Publication Date

Publication date has been set. The book and this site will be live on 26 March. Woo hoo.

In the meantime, here's where I am at with my current investment in PRL:

Petrel Energy Ltd (PRL) is looking like an interesting thing. To be honest, the 8-year old and I both bought in. We did it on the strength of their good news out of Uruguay. The reality is that PRL finding the only onshore oil in that country has the potential to be a really big deal indeed.
And then the share price dropped dramatically, partly due to the need to raise cash through a rights issue. They set the price very low.
What do I think these shares will do? I reckon they will end up around the 1.8 cent mark - and that's 6x their current price. So the potential is great.
Looking at last year's performance, the price rocketed up 4x, offering a lot of opportunity to earn some profits. But let's have a look at what others are saying on other forums:

TJ**** "They’ve got to find cash and fast! I might explore the option of selling now to protect what little I have left and buying back in when they are in a better position."
Kiw****** "Good time to buy IMO might get some .002 or .003. Might be a long wait but well Worth it once the SP starts to rise on good news. Fantastic buying opportunity for those who are willing to wait for a partner/funding."
TJ**** "I agree however the clause that I like most in all of this is the buy back scheme they have planned. If they can raise funds and find a partner, they will begin to buy back share on market and this will drive the price much higher than current levels. IMO it is a steal buying shares at 0.003c and I’ve put in another million to buy. Imagine if they manage to pull some thing off like Sirius resources, share price goes to 50c or more, the people that bought in here at these levels will be laughing and remembering PRL for the rest of their lives. You will look back and with a smile say “thank god I made that move, look at my life now”, this is why I’m here and this is why I’m buying more and more at 0.003. Is risking 20k to potentially make millions upon millions worth the risk?? I think it is 110%! But that’s just my opinion...."

Ok. So buying a bunch of shares in the hope that the price will reach 50 cents is a huge hope. In reality, these guys expect the share price to jump when they announce a new funding partner. And that means it will jump from wherever it is (at that time) sitting). Buying now could mean that the price will have increased already, and the jump will only improve the profitability of the deal. But waiting for anything over 2 cents is going to be a long wait.

A Couple of Updates

Well, it's Monday morning and the week has started with a bang. First, PFE announced that there was an unexpected problem with their test drill and they have had to abandon that and go to a new test drill site. A delay, but no real issue apart from that. And the market hated that. Good news for those wanting to buy, not so good for existing holders. IMC released their AGM presentation which indicates that there will be some news in December and then a very busy (and hopefully productive) 2025. Sales are good and continuing to get better and better.

2025 - an early start

Ok., so here we go on my Trump-era goal. Just bought MXR (yes, on the ASX). AAR wants to take them over at 7 cents as a scrip payment (paying in AAR shares instead of cash). The current share price is 6.3 cents. So that should be a quick 10% gain. However... this does look like a lowball offer and may yet be increased. MXR has great assets and AAR already owns almost 20% of MXR. So AAR is committed to a deal and that may just attract other attention. It looks like a no-brainer to start 2025. Yes, there is always some risk, but this one looks pretty good. I have done a bit more research and have some exciting thoughts, including one that looks a little like another WGO (which returned handsomely on a takeover). More news coming as I do more reseach.  Another one that looks good for a quick profit is GES, but as I write this, there are no shares at the right price (.05).

Out of 2

I ahd some bills to pay and these 2 got the chop: PFE - such promise, such disappointmen IMC - I always had some ethical problems with this one.  But there it is. Bills paid, and a little left over to find something new with.
