Sometimes You Get A Little Lucky

 Luck. It happens.

For instance, with my WGO shares. I was teachig my pre-teen daughter about shares and trading and asked her to pick the next investment. She picked a company called Petrel Energy. I had a look ad they had some good things going, so I piled in and threw some money in for her as well.

Then the company tanked. It was probably due to porr management decisions ovr an extended period of time. The share lsot 90% of their value. It looke dlike it was all gone. Then Warrego Energy (WGO) stepped in and bought the company. In not too long a period, the shares were back to break even, and then an amazing thing happened. WGO kicked some big goals and the shares increased to 4 times what I paid for them.

All the chatter was that they had a long way to go, so I held on. Also, if I held on and they did increase, there may have been Capital Gains Tax benefits. Stupid move. Along came COVID and the shares dropped back to just above what I had paid for them and stayed there right through the pandemic.

Suddenly, now, there are a number of large companies that want what WGO has got and are prepared to pay for it. Suddenly the share price is climbing again, and fast. It is already alost 3 times what I originally paid, and that's not a bad return for a 4-year investment. But wait, it still has some way to go. Will it get back to 4 times my original investment? The way it is looking, that is a strong possibility. Will it go further? Possibly, but there are no guarantees.

All I kno is that I (along with my daughter) am now in the lucky position of having an auction happening for my shares and all I have to do is sit back and watch.

Lucky twice (even though I ignored the first time) with the same shares is alost unheard of. This time I will enjoy the CGT cencessions, so it is all looking pretty good.

Can you still make money on WGO? Absolutely. I am writing this on a Saturday. When the market opens on Monay, I expect the share price will jump by 10% in the first hour, perhaps even more. Me? I am happy with my investment, but WGO won't be around for much longer so I will be looking for the next winner soon.

And this time it is back to working the plan.

A Couple of Updates

Well, it's Monday morning and the week has started with a bang. First, PFE announced that there was an unexpected problem with their test drill and they have had to abandon that and go to a new test drill site. A delay, but no real issue apart from that. And the market hated that. Good news for those wanting to buy, not so good for existing holders. IMC released their AGM presentation which indicates that there will be some news in December and then a very busy (and hopefully productive) 2025. Sales are good and continuing to get better and better.

2025 - an early start

Ok., so here we go on my Trump-era goal. Just bought MXR (yes, on the ASX). AAR wants to take them over at 7 cents as a scrip payment (paying in AAR shares instead of cash). The current share price is 6.3 cents. So that should be a quick 10% gain. However... this does look like a lowball offer and may yet be increased. MXR has great assets and AAR already owns almost 20% of MXR. So AAR is committed to a deal and that may just attract other attention. It looks like a no-brainer to start 2025. Yes, there is always some risk, but this one looks pretty good. I have done a bit more research and have some exciting thoughts, including one that looks a little like another WGO (which returned handsomely on a takeover). More news coming as I do more reseach.  Another one that looks good for a quick profit is GES, but as I write this, there are no shares at the right price (.05).

Out of 2

I ahd some bills to pay and these 2 got the chop: PFE - such promise, such disappointmen IMC - I always had some ethical problems with this one.  But there it is. Bills paid, and a little left over to find something new with.
