Just to be Clear

This blog is about my investments. I will usually only write about investments that I have made and why. Occasionally, when a colleague asks me about a certain company, I may put my research up here. But I am noy a broker, nor a financial advisor. So if what I write ever sounds like advice, it is only ever advice to myself. Investing is risky, whether you think something is blue-chip or a micro-cap.  Oh, you imagine blue-chips are safer? How many banks have gone under recently? What about coal miners? What does their future look like? Every investment is speculative. All you can do is invest where it fits your risk profile, where you are comfortable. And if my musings help you along the way, then all power to you. I wish you every success in your investment adventures.

The Countdown Clock is Ticking

And very son FOMO (the fear of missing out) will kick in. I have a number of investments that are due to produce serious results before the end of the financial year (30 June). Let's have a look at them, in alphabetical order (I am not offering financial advice, just a commentary on where I am at with my investments): 1AI - actually, the result is due (probably) in July, but there is a chance that there will be an announcement sooner than that. These guys are doing amazing things with AI in the biomed sphere and will be a long-term winner )in my opinion). The next result should see a gain of at least 50% in their share price. In fact, as I write this their quarterly report has been released. After a quick read I am pleased to not have to change anything I just said. An announcement is due BY Q3. Happy days, only 2 months to go for that one. BOT - Massive result due in late June. This should beest the share price by 150% from where it is now. These guys are also doing great and hav...

DTR - Countering the Threat

How does DTR deal with the takeover thret outlined in the last post? Well, it's a bit of a (genuine) caatch 22. In my opinion, sitting on their hands and trying to stay under the radar will not work for them, they are too close to Mountain Pass and MP knows all about them which means that Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd will find out all about them. So I feel that it is already a given that HPPL knows all about DTR. The thought proceses have already begun. DTR should embark upon an extensive PR campaign, raising the profile of the company and also (hopefully) the price of their shares. This campaign cannot stop, it must be ongoing and it must be bullish. It must tell NEWS with every release and, to help get the story published, it should be editor-ready )ie written ready to print - no need for a journalist to work hard unless they want to expand the story). Print, audio and video. The MD needs to allocate some time each and every day to PR activities - being interviewed. And there...

Can't Predict The Future, But...

Investing is all about uncertainty and risk, and knowing that you cannot see the future, you can only judge possible outcomes based on current circumstances. That’s what makes it so interesting and fun. Even when you get it wrong you learn something. That said, let’s have a look at Dateline Resources (DTR) in light of some recent events. And it is important to understand that it will be almost impossible to keep any bias out because I am not looking at all possible outcomes. Plus I am an existing DTR shareholder so I am quite bullish, despite any negatives that I may point out. DTR is a small Aussie (about $20 million market cap) exploring a piece of California’s San  Bernardino Mountains. They have gold (and they keep finding more) and rare earths. They are  just 6.5km from Mountain Pass Minerals which is a multi-billion dollar rare earth miner. The  $7 billion MP is also building America’s only rare earth processing plant. All right next door  to DTR. DTR sit...

There's Nothing Worse...

I have been watching Hot Copper quite a bit and I see that the BOT shareholders have plenty to say... and most of it is utter rubbish. With BOT, we are 2 months (due late June) out from a major announcement, one that should have been made in September last year, and some of the retail shareholders are bored. AND THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN A BORED SHAREHOLDER. So, to counter their boredom, they create trouble and post stupid posts on HC.  I couldn't help myself and had to respond by reminding them that the company they invested in is also waiting for the June announcement. But BOT takes the delay differently. They don't sit around moping and getting bored, they use that time to prepare for the announcement by getting everything else into place. in other words, they spend the extra time advancing their company, keeping an eye on the final result. If shareholders did the same thisg, then they would spend the spare time figuring out what their next step is. The reality is that i...

Scratching Your Head

Often, I come across a company with a low share price and I look into it and I wonder why the price is so low. one such exaple is 1AI. I have had a good look at the company and everything seems good. BUT, the market seems to know different. It is probable that the market just has other priorities. But for me 1AL now represents a buying opportunity. And with some results due in the next few weeks, it should be a good little earner. Such is the case with many companies. And it often comes down to a lack of effective PR activities.
